Sago Plum Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda .
  • 2 dashes cinnamon .
  • 1 tsp nutmeg .
  • 2 c fresh breadcrumbs .
  • 1 1/2 c raisins, halved .
  • 2 tbsps butter, melted .
  • 1 (100 g) package glace cherries, quartered (or a 200gm pack if you love 'em!) .
  • 3 tbsps sago .
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • sliced mixed peel, a little .
  • 1 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Soak sago in milk overnight.
  • Step #2 Dissolve the soda in the melted butter.
  • Step #3 Add to the sago in milk together with all the other ingredients, mix well.
  • Step #4 Place in 1 - 1 1/2 pint greased basin; cover securely & steam for 3-4 hrs.
