Canadian Kebabs Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced .
  • 1 lb grilling steak (top sirloin, tenderloin, strip loin or rib eye) .
  • 1/2 tsp salt & pepper .
  • 2 tbsps sliced green onions .
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 1 tbsp rye whiskey (optional- I never leave this out) .
  • 2 tbsps maple syrup .
  • 2 oranges, peeled & cut into large chunks .
  • 1/4 c cider vinegar .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large sealable bag, mix vinegar, syrup, onions, garlic, cloves, whiskey, salt & pepper.
  • Step #2 Set aside 4 tbsp of the marinade for basting.
  • Step #3 Trim any fat from steak: cut into 1" cubes.
  • Step #4 Add to the bag: seal tightly & put in the fridge for 20-30 mins or overnight.
  • Step #5 Discard marinade used on steak.
  • Step #6 Thread steak & orange onto metal or soaked wooden skewers.
  • Step #7 Place greased grill over med-high heat: close lid & cook, basting with reserved marinade for 4-5 mins per side or until browned but still pink inside.
  • Step #8 Serve.
  • Step #9 serving is aprox.
  • Step #10 Time indicated is including chill time.
