Cinnamon Custard Swirl Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c milk .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • 5-5 1/2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 1 tsp cinnamon .
  • 2 tbsps butter or margarine .
  • 2 large eggs .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon .
  • 1 (3 oz) package custard mix .
  • 2 tbsps active dry yeast (2 packages) .
  • 1 1/2 tbsps sugar .
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine 2 c flour, yeast, custard mix & salt In a large-ish mixing bowl.
  • Step #2 Mix well.
  • Step #3 Heat milk, water, & 1/4 c butter in saucepan until warm (120° to 130°, butter need not be melted).
  • Step #4 Add milk mixture & eggs to flour mixture.
  • Step #5 Blend at lowish speed until moistened, then for 3 mins at medium speed.
  • Step #6 By hand, stir in the enough remaining flour to make a firm dough.
  • Step #7 Knead on floured board until smooth & elastic (5 to 8 mins).
  • Step #8 Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top.
  • Step #9 Cover up & let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 hr).
  • Step #10 For filling, mix 1/2 c sugar & 1 tbsp cinnamon, & set aside.
  • Step #11 Punch dough down & divide into two parts.
  • Step #12 On lightly floured surface, roll each half to a 14 x 7 inch rectangle.
  • Step #13 Spread each with 1 tbsp softened butter & sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon filling.
  • Step #14 Roll up tightly, pressing dough into roll with each turn.
  • Step #15 Pinch ends & edges to seal.
  • Step #16 Place in greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans.
  • Step #17 Cover up & let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 hr).
  • Step #18 Bake at 375° for 35-40 mins.
  • Step #19 Brush tops with melted butter & sprinkle with mixture of 1 1/2 tbsps of sugar & 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  • Step #20 Remove from pans & cool on rack.
