Print Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1-1 1/2 c mayonnaise, do not use salad dressing .
  • 2 (6 oz) cans tuna .
  • fresh dill sprigs (optional) .
  • hard-boiled eggs (optional) .
  • 2 large kosher dill pickles, coarsly sliced .
  • 12 oz elbow macaroni, cooked al-dente, & completely cooled .
  • 1 tsp dried dill .
  • 2 celery ribs, thinly sliced .
  • salt & black pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook the macaroni according to package directions for al dente doneness.
  • Step #2 Drain & as soon as possible plunge into very cold water to stop any further cooking.
  • Step #3 Drain the tuna, & coarsely crumble into the drained & cooled macaroni.
  • Step #4 Genly stir in the about 1/2 c of the mayonnaise.
  • Step #5 add the pickles, celery & dried dill.
  • Step #6 Stir again carefully adding more mayonnaise until desired coverage is achieved.
  • Step #7 (I don't like it dry, but it shouldn't be "soupy").
  • Step #8 Add salt & pepper to taste, again carefully stiring inches.
  • Step #9 Refrigerate for at least 2 hrs before serving.
  • Step #10 If the salad looks a bit dry, you can add a bit more mayonnaise right before serving.
  • Step #11 Garnish with fresh dill & sliced eggs if using.
