Cream Cheese Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c sour cream .
  • For the cream cheese filling .
  • 1/8 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 c butter, melted .
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract .
  • 4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 egg, beaten .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps active dry yeast (2 tsp) .
  • For the glaze .
  • 1/4 c milk .
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened .
  • 2 c powdered sugar .
  • 2 eggs, beaten .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract .
  • 1/2 c lukewarm water (105 to 115 degrees)

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat sour cream in saucepan over low heat/flame.
  • Step #2 Add sugar, salt & butter.
  • Step #3 Let cool to lukewarm.
  • Step #4 Sprinkle top yeast over warm water in large mixing bowl, stirring to dissolve.
  • Step #5 Add sour cream mixture, eggs & flour, mixing well.
  • Step #6 Chill dough, tightly covered, overnight.
  • Step #7 Divide dough into 4 equal portions.
  • Step #8 On a well-floured surface, roll each portion into a 12 by 28 inch rectangle.
  • Step #9 Prepare the filling by combining cream cheese, slat & vanilla, sugar, egg, mixing until smooth.
  • Step #10 Spread 1/4 of cream cheese filling on each rectangle of dough.
  • Step #11 Beginning at long edge, roll up, jelly roll fashion.
  • Step #12 Pinch seam to seal & tuck ends under.
  • Step #13 Place rolls, seam side down, on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #14 Cut slits about 2/3 of the way through the rolls at 2 inch intervals.
  • Step #15 cover & let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, for about 1 hr or until doubled in bulk.
  • Step #16 Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Step #17 Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 mins.
  • Step #18 Prepare the glaze by combining powdered sugar, milk & vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  • Step #19 Spread glaze over warm loaves.
