French Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 5 egg whites .
  • 600 ml cream .
  • 2 tbsps Cointreau liqueur .
  • 5 egg yolks .
  • 1 c sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Using an electric mixer, beat the egg yolks until creamy.
  • Step #2 Slowly add half the sugar while continuing to beat until the mixture is thick & pale.
  • Step #3 Mix in the Cointreau & vanilla.
  • Step #4 In another bowl beat the cream until soft peaks form then mix with the yolk mixture.
  • Step #5 In a clean dry bowl beat the egg whites until soft peaks form & then slowly beat in the remaing sugar & continue beating until thick & glossy.
  • Step #6 Fold 2-3 tbsps of the cream mixture into the whites to lighten the mix, then carefully fold in the rest of the cream mixture.
  • Step #7 Spoon into container & cover well.
  • Step #8 Freeze until firm, approx 6-8 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #9 Note: To vary mix you can fold in some sliced dark chocolate or sliced nuts before freezing.
