Dream Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c shredded coconut
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c sliced pecans
  • 1/2 c quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 c shortening

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Cream the shortening with 1/2 c of the brown sugar.
  • Step #3 Add 1 c of the flour, the salt & the oats & mix.
  • Step #4 Press into the bottom of one 8x12 inch baking dish.
  • Step #5 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 15 mins.
  • Step #6 Beat eggs well.
  • Step #7 Then beat in the 1 c brown sugar & the vanilla.
  • Step #8 Stir in the 2 tbsps flour & baking powder, mixing well.
  • Step #9 Stir in the coconut & pecans.
  • Step #10 Spread over the top of the baked bottom layer.
  • Step #11 Return dish to oven & bake for an extra 15 to 20 mins at 300F degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Step #12 Let cool then cut into 2 inch bars & wrap in plastic wrap before storing in an airtight container.
