Step #2 Line a 13x9x2" baking pan with foil wrap, extending it over the ends of the pan.
Step #3 grease foil wrap & set aside.
Step #4 In a large-ish mixing bowl, mix sugar & melted butter.
Step #5 stir in the eggs, one at a time.
Step #6 beating well after each addition.
Step #7 stir in the marmalade & vanilla.
Step #8 stir in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt & cayenne pepper until well mixd.
Step #9 stir in the 1/2 c sliced nuts & chocolate chips.
Step #10 spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
Step #11 bake in preheated oven for 30 mins or until center is set.
Step #12 transfer pan to wire rack to cool completely.
Step #13 lift brownies from pan using foil wrap as handles.
Step #14 transfer brownies to a large cutting board.
Step #15 cut into 32 or 16 pieces.
Step #16 in a small saucepan, mix remaining 1/2 c chocolate chips & shortening.
Step #17 cool & stir over low heat/flame until melted.
Step #18 cool slightly.
Step #19 transfer melted chocolate to a resealable plastic bag -- snip off a small corner of the bag & drizzle chocolate mixture over tops of brownies.
Step #20 chill until chocolate sets.
Step #21 to store -- place brownies in layers seperated by waxed paper in an airtight container, cover.
Step #22 store at about room temp up to 3 days or freeze undrizzled bars up to 3 months.
