Bacon-wrapped Grilled Onions Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 slices hickory smoked bacon, thick, cut in half .
  • 1 tbsp molasses .
  • 2 tbsps light brown sugar .
  • 2 large sweet onions, cut in wedges .
  • 2 tbsps balsamic vinegar

Directions
  • Step #1 COMBINE sugar, vinegar, & molasses in a zip-lock bag.
  • Step #2 Squish bag to mix ingredients.
  • Step #3 WRAP onion wedges with bacon; secure with long wooden picks.
  • Step #4 Place in zip-lock bag.
  • Step #5 PUT in refrigerator overnight.
  • Step #6 Turn bag over a couple of times.
  • Step #7 REMOVE onion wedges from marinade; reserve marinade.
  • Step #8 BAKE in a 350 degree oven until bacon starts to crisp, about 15 mins.
  • Step #9 GRILL to finish cooking onion & bacon.
  • Step #10 Basting with reserved marinade.
  • Step #11 Don't cook too long, the onion should still be crisp-tender.
  • Step #12 OR if you don't want to grill the onions, let them finish in the oven.
  • Step #13 Basting every once in awhile.
  • Step #14 PREP TIME reflects the overnight in the fridge.
