Makka Poa-indian Corn Puffs Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 egg, beaten .
  • 1 c thawed frozen corn kernels .
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds .
  • 1 tsp garam masala .
  • 3/4 c milk .
  • 1/2 c thinly sliced green onions .
  • 1/2 c fresh cilantro leaves .
  • 1 tbsp melted butter .
  • 1 1/4 c flour .
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt .
  • 1/2 c minced red bell peppers .
  • 2 tsps baking powder .
  • oil (for frying)

Directions
  • Step #1 In bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, cumin & garam marsala.
  • Step #2 In small bowl whisk milk, egg & butter.
  • Step #3 Pour the milk mix over the flour mix; mix quickly to form a lump-free batter.
  • Step #4 Fold in corn, green onion, minced bell pepper & cilantro.
  • Step #5 In large pan pour in oil to 1 1/4 inch deep & heat to 375 degrees.
  • Step #6 Use a tsp to carefully slip heaping spoonfuls of batter into oil (if you have a melon baller you can use that instead).
  • Step #7 Only drop in 3 or 4 at a time.
  • Step #8 Fry the puffs turning them every once in awhile till golden brown - about 4-5 mins.
  • Step #9 Remove from oil & drain on a paper towel.
  • Step #10 Keep them warm in the oven on low heat.
  • Step #11 Serve them hot.
