Healthy Chocolate Nut Squares Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1 egg white .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 c applesauce (1/3 c olive oil can be used instead) .
  • 1 1/2 tbsps ground flax seeds .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1 1/2 tbsps wheat germ .
  • 1/2 c whole-wheat flour .
  • 6 oz nonfat yogurt (plain or flavored) .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 3/4 c oats (I use old-fashioned, but quick oats would work) .
  • 2/3 c sugar .
  • 1/4 c mini chocolate chips (I use a little less) .
  • 1 c Grape Nuts cereal or seven in the morning cereal .
  • 1/3 c pecans or walnut pieces

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine all ingredients through the cinnamon (cereal, wheat germ, baking soda, nuts, whole wheat flour, flax seeds, salt, chocolate chips, oats, & cinnamon) In a large-ish mixing bowl.
  • Step #2 Add remaining ingredients & stir this to mix.
  • Step #3 Pour into lightly sprayed 13x9 dish.
  • Step #4 Bake at 350 for 20-25 mins.
