Turkey Or Chicken Layered Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 14 slices day-old bread, cubed .
  • 1 tbsp minced fresh garlic (or to tatse) .
  • 4 celery ribs, sliced .
  • 1 1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese .
  • 2 c milk or half-and-half cream .
  • salt & pepper .
  • 1 tsp dried parsley .
  • 4 eggs .
  • 2 1/2 c cooked chicken or cooked turkey, cubed (can use less) .
  • 1/2 c grated parmesan cheese, divided (or to taste) .
  • 1 1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese .
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced .
  • 2-4 tbsps oil .
  • 1 large onion, sliced (can use 6-8 sliced green onions) .
  • 1 c mayonnaise .
  • 1-2 tbsp worcestershire sauce .
  • 1 (10 oz) can cream of chicken soup, undiluted

Directions
  • Step #1 Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Step #2 In a skillet saute onion, celery, bell pepper & garlic in oil until soft (about 5 mins).
  • Step #3 Transfer the veggies to a large bowl.
  • Step #4 Add in cooked chicken or turkey, mayonnaise, both cheeses, parsley salt & pepper; mix to mix.
  • Step #5 Place half of the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
  • Step #6 Top with the chicken mixture.
  • Step #7 Sprinkle top with about 1/4 c Parmesan cheese.
  • Step #8 Top with remaining bread cubes.
  • Step #9 In a bowl beat eggs with a whisk; add in milk or half & half cream (if using) undiluted soup & Worcestershire sauce.
  • Step #10 Pour over the casserole.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top with about 1/4 c grated Parmesan cheese (can sprinkle with grated cheddar also).
  • Step #12 Bake uncovered for about 1 hr.
