Step #1 Cream shortening & sugar.
Step #2 Add eggs.
Step #3 Mix dry ingredients together.
Step #4 Mix alternately with orange juice adding to the shortening mixture.
Step #5 Put one half of mixture in loaf pan.
Step #6 Spread with jam.
Step #7 Grate apples coarsely over the jam.
Step #8 Put remainder of mixture on top, & sprinkle with 1/4 c sugar & 1/2 tsp cinnamon mixed with 1/2 c sliced nuts.
Step #9 Bake 350F 45 mins.
