Ingredients
2 tbsps butter, softened
1 c water
1/2 c sliced almonds, toasted
1 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp almond extract
FILLING:
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 c confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
1/2 c butter (no substitutes)
1/2 c butter (no substitutes)
1 tbsp water
1 c all-purpose flour
1 tbsp cold water
3 eggs
TOPPING:
Directions
Step #1 In a bowl, cut butter into the flour until crumbly.
Step #2 Sprinkle top with water; toss with a fork until moist enough to shape into a ball.
Step #3 Divide in half.
Step #4 On a floured surface, roll each portion into 1 12-in.
Step #5 x 3-in.
Step #6 rectangle.
Step #7 Place on greased baking sheets.
Step #8 In a saucepan, bring water & butter to a boil.
Step #9 Add flour & salt all at once; stir until a smooth ball forms.
Step #10 Remove from the heat; let this stand 5 mins.
Step #11 Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Step #12 Add extract; beat until smooth.
Step #13 Spread over dough.
Step #14 Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hr or until puffed & golden brown.
Step #15 Cool on pans for 10 mins.
Step #16 Combine sugar, butter, water & vanilla until smooth; spread over warm puffs.
Step #17 Sprinkle top with almonds.
Step #18 Refrigerate leftovers.
