Soy Falafel Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c breadcrumbs .
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne .
  • 1 1/2 tbsps dark sesame oil .
  • 4 tbsps tahini .
  • 3 tbsps tamari soy sauce .
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin .
  • 1 tbsp turmeric .
  • 3 (12 oz) cake tofu, pressed & mashed .
  • black pepper .
  • 1 c onions, finely sliced .
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced .
  • 4 tbsps fresh lemon juice .
  • 1/2 c sesame seeds, toasted .
  • 3 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 1/4 c fresh parsley, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Pressing the tofu will make it firmer & more absorbent.
  • Step #2 To press, put the tofu between 3 flat plates.
  • Step #3 Weight the plate with whatever is handy.
  • Step #4 The sides of the tofu should bulge, but not crack.
  • Step #5 Let sit for about 30 mins & then pour off the water.
  • Step #6 In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients.
  • Step #7 Form into 1-inch balls & bake this at 350 F on a greased baking sheet for about 30 mins.
  • Step #8 The balls should be golden & a little crusty on the outside, but moist on the inside.
