Chocolate Madeleines Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 c confectioners' sugar for decoration
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 c sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c white sugar
  • 1/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Butter one Madeleine pan.
  • Step #3 Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder & salt together.
  • Step #4 Set aside.
  • Step #5 Cream the butter with the vanilla & the sugar.
  • Step #6 Add the egg & egg yolks, beating to mix.
  • Step #7 Stir in the dry ingredients until just mixd only, do not over mix.
  • Step #8 Place rounded tsp of batter into the prepared Madeleine shell forms.
  • Step #9 Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 12 mins.
  • Step #10 Remove from oven & as soon as possible invert onto a wire rack to cool.
  • Step #11 Once cool sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
