Southern Creamy Mushroom Chicken Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 large garlic cloves, minced (or 3-4 small) .
  • 2 tbsps white wine .
  • seasoning, mix (Garlic, Salt & Pepper See note below) .
  • 1/4 c white wine .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 1/2 tbsps worcestershire sauce .
  • 1/3 c heavy cream or half-and-half .
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz) can cream of mushroom soup .
  • 1/3 c water .
  • 4 chicken breasts (bone-in) .
  • 3/4 c onions, finely sliced .
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 In a medium size skillet heat Olive Oil.
  • Step #2 Sprinkle top the Chicken on all sides using Spice uping Mix.
  • Step #3 Amount would be your preference.
  • Step #4 (You can find this mix in your spice aisle or I suggest 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp pepper).
  • Step #5 Brown Chicken (with skins) on all sides, using medium heat.
  • Step #6 Transfer breasts to dutch oven (Meat up/bone down).
  • Step #7 In same skillet, Saute Onion, Garlic in 2 Tablespoons of White Wine until tender & wine has almost evaporated.
  • Step #8 Spoon onion mixture evenly over each chicken breast.
  • Step #9 Gently spoon mushroom soup over chicken pieces & onion mixture.
  • Step #10 Add Cream & remaining White Wine, pouring evenly in-between chicken pieces.
  • Step #11 Using soup can, add Water & Worcestershire Sauce, mixing well with any leftover soup.
  • Step #12 Pour carefully over soup covered chicken.
  • Step #13 Cover up & SIMMER on Low to medium low heat for 25-30 mins, checking several times.
  • Step #14 In saute skillet, add sliced mushrooms & cook this until they begin to slightly darken.
  • Step #15 Spoon sauted mushrooms on top of chicken the last 10 mins of cooking.
  • Step #16 For plenty of sauce, make sure it doesn't cook down, cream, lower temperature & add more water, or wine if necessary.
  • Step #17 Check for tenderness with a fork.
  • Step #18 Serve over rice.
