Arabic Cardamom Shortbread (gorayba) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 2 c flour .
  • 1 c pure ghee .
  • 1 c icing sugar .
  • 50 blanched almond halves or walnuts or pine nuts or pistachios .
  • 2 tsps ground cardamom (optional) or 1 tbsp orange flower water or rose water (optional)

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt ghee in a saucepan on the stove.
  • Step #2 Add icing sugar to ghee & mix till sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat.
  • Step #4 Add cardamom & slowly add in the flour & baking soda.
  • Step #5 Mix well.
  • Step #6 dough should not stick to ur hand.
  • Step #7 Add more flour if necessery.
  • Step #8 Roll 1tsp of dough at a time into balls.
  • Step #9 Place onto an oven tray, flatten slighly.
  • Step #10 Place a nut of your choice in the middel of each cookie.
  • Step #11 Bake @180C for 10 mins,or untill tops are cream.
