Sheboygan Beer And Brat Stew Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 baby red potatoes .
  • pepper .
  • 6 johnsonville stadium bratwursts .
  • 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese .
  • 10 1/2 oz cream of onion soup .
  • water .
  • 16 oz beer (I use Budweiser.) .
  • 1 beef bouillon cube (or use packet from a package of beef ramon noodles)

Directions
  • Step #1 Slice brats into bite-size pieces & place this in a kettle.
  • Step #2 Pour beer over brats & place this in refrigerator to marinate for at least 3 hrs.
  • Step #3 Cut potatoes into bite-size pieces & place this inside slow cooker (aka crockpot).
  • Step #4 Add just enough water to cover potatoes.
  • Step #5 Stir in beef seasoning packet.
  • Step #6 Stir in Cream of Onion soup.
  • Step #7 Cook until potatoes are tender.
  • Step #8 (This will take around 3 hrs at the low setting.
  • Step #9 ) Be sure to stir every once in awhile.
  • Step #10 When potatoes are tender, heat brats in beer to a rolling boil.
  • Step #11 Boil for 3 mins while stirring.
  • Step #12 Pour about 3/4 c of boiled beer into potato mixture.
  • Step #13 (This doesn't need to be measured nor exact.
  • Step #14 Add to gain the consistency that you desire.
  • Step #15 ).
  • Step #16 Drain remaining beer from kettle & brown bratwurst pieces.
  • Step #17 Add cheese to potato mixture.
  • Step #18 Add browned brats to potato mixture.
  • Step #19 Add pepper to taste.
  • Step #20 Stir well & serve.
