Chinese Savory Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed .
  • 2 tbsps oil .
  • 2 slices ginger .
  • 1 onion, sliced .
  • 1/8 tsp pepper .
  • 3 c water .
  • 2 lbs lean beef, cut into strips .
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar .
  • 1/2 c soy sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oil in Dutch Oven.
  • Step #2 Fry beef until brown.
  • Step #3 Add onions, garlic & ginger.
  • Step #4 Stir-Fry a few mins.
  • Step #5 Add Soy Sauce, brown sugar, pepper & water.
  • Step #6 Bring to a boil.
  • Step #7 Reduce heat, cover & let simmer for 3 hrs.
  • Step #8 Add more liquid, if needed.
  • Step #9 Just before serving, thicken with a small amount of flour or corn starch.
  • Step #10 Serve over rice or noodles.
  • Step #11 OPTIONAL: 30 mins before serving, add 1/2 lb of vegetables.
  • Step #12 Mushrooms, green pepper, carrots & peas all work well.
