Merangutang Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream .
  • Filling .
  • 3 eggs .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps sifted cocoa .
  • 1/4 c sifted cocoa .
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar .
  • 1 (28 oz) can mixed fruit or fruit cocktail .
  • 1 dash salt .
  • 1/2 c powdered sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 400°F Butter sides & bottom of an 8 inch pie plate.
  • Step #2 Beat 3 egg whites, 1/4 tsps cream of tartar,1/4 tsps salt & 1/2 tsps vanilla to form stiff peaks.
  • Step #3 Add 3/4 c of sugar beating until stiff & glossy.
  • Step #4 Fold in 2 tbsps of sifted cocoa.
  • Step #5 Spread on bottom & sides of pie plate forming a shell.
  • Step #6 Place in the preheated oven & turn off the heat.
  • Step #7 Leave in oven overnight.
  • Step #8 One hr before serving mix 1/2 pint of heavy cream, 1/4 c sifted cocoa, 1/2 c icing sugar & a dash of salt.
  • Step #9 Beat until stiff.
  • Step #10 Fold in 1 can of drained fruit coctail & put in the fridge.
  • Step #11 This is an excellent dessert & simple to make.
