Cinnamon Orange Swirl Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsps grated orange peel
  • 1/2 c butter flavored shortening
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c sour cream
  • 1 1/4 c sugar, divided
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, cream shortening & 1 c sugar.
  • Step #2 Add eggs, sour cream & vanilla; mix well.
  • Step #3 Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt; stir in theto creamed mixture just until moistened.
  • Step #4 Pour half the batter into a greased 9-in.
  • Step #5 x 5-in.
  • Step #6 x 3-in.
  • Step #7 loaf pan.
  • Step #8 Combine cinnamon, orange peel & remaining sugar; set 1 tbsp aside for the topping.
  • Step #9 Sprinkle top remaining sugar mixture over batter.
  • Step #10 Carefully top this with batter.
  • Step #11 Cut through batter with a knife to swirl.
  • Step #12 Sprinkle top with reserved sugar mixture.
  • Step #13 Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Step #14 Cool for 10 mins; remove this from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
