Chocolate Velvet Dessert Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c chocolate wafer crumbs .
  • 2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips .
  • 3 c confectioners' sugar .
  • 3 tbsps baking cocoa .
  • 1/2 c butter, softened .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 3-4 tbsps milk .
  • 1 3/4 c whipping cream .
  • 1/4 c melted butter .
  • 6 egg yolks .
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract .
  • Chocolate ButterCream Frosting

Directions
  • Step #1 In small bowl, mix wafer crumbs & sugar; stir in the butter.
  • Step #2 Press onto the bottom & 1 1/2 inch up sides of a greased 9 inch springform pan.
  • Step #3 Bake at 350 for 10 mins.
  • Step #4 Cool on a wire rack.
  • Step #5 In microwave or heavy saucepan, melt chocolate chips; stir until smooth.
  • Step #6 Cool.
  • Step #7 In mixing bowl, mix egg yolks, cream & vanilla; beat well.
  • Step #8 Gradually stir a third of the cream mixture into melted chocolate until mixed.
  • Step #9 Gradually stir in the remaining cream mixture.
  • Step #10 Pour into crust.
  • Step #11 Place pan on a baking sheet.
  • Step #12 Bake at 350 for 40-45 mins or until center is almost set.
  • Step #13 Cool on a wire rack for 10 mins.
  • Step #14 Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hr longer.
  • Step #15 Refrigerate overnight.
  • Step #16 For frosting, in mixing bowl, cream butter.
  • Step #17 Combine confectioners sugar & cocoa; add butter with enough milk to achieve frosting consistency.
  • Step #18 Pipe into center of dessert, Refrigerate leftovers.
