Smothered Sweet-and-sour Chicken Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 lbs chicken legs .
  • 2 tbsps lemon juice .
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 3 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 1 large onion, sliced .
  • lemon slices .
  • 3 tbsps ketchup .
  • 1/4 c cold water .
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper .
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large frying pan, heat oil over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #2 Add chicken & cook, turning, until golden brown, about 10 mins.
  • Step #3 Meanwhile, pepper, ketchup, soy sauce, lemon juice, in a small bowl, mix onion, sugar, & 1/2 water; mix well.
  • Step #4 Pour sweet-and-sour mixture over chicken.
  • Step #5 Cover up, & cook 20 mins, reduce heat to low, until tender.
  • Step #6 Remove chicken to a serving platter.
  • Step #7 Add cornstarch mixture to sauce.
  • Step #8 Raise heat, bring to a boil, & cook, until sauce thickens, stirring, about 2 mins.
  • Step #9 Pour over chicken & garnish with lemon slices.
