Cherry Streusel Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps sugar .
  • 1 1/2 tsps cider vinegar .
  • 1/4 c water .
  • 2 (21 oz) cans cherry pie filling .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 4 c flour, divided .
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated orange zest .
  • 3/4 c butter flavor shortening .
  • 1 1/4 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1 c cold butter .
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, mix 2 c flour, sugar & salt; cut in shortening until crumbly.
  • Step #2 In another bowl, whisk the egg, water, & vinegar.
  • Step #3 Stir into flour mixture with a fork.
  • Step #4 On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into a 15 x 10 inch rectangle.
  • Step #5 Transfer to a greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan.
  • Step #6 Bake at 400° for 6-8 mins or until firm & dry to the touch.
  • Step #7 Meanwhile, mix pie filling & orange peel; set aside.
  • Step #8 In a large bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon & remaining flour; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Step #9 Spread cherry mixture over crust.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top with crumb mixture.
  • Step #11 Bake at 400° for 20-25 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #12 Cool on a wire rack for 20 mins before cutting.
