Smoked Ham Paella Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed .
  • 100 g large shrimp .
  • 100 g frozen peas .
  • 1 onion, sliced .
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric .
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper .
  • 1/2 tsp paprika .
  • 1 red pepper, cored, seeded & sliced .
  • 180 g smoked ham, roughly sliced .
  • 200 g long grain rice .
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 900 ml chicken stock

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat the oil In a large-ish frying pan & cook the onion for 3-4 mins until softened & golden.
  • Step #2 Add the red pepper, garlic & rice & stir fry for 1 min.
  • Step #3 Add the ham, paprika & tumeric, stock, bring to the boil & let simmer for 12 mins.
  • Step #4 Stir in the prawns & peas & cook for a further 3-4 mins, until the rice & vegetables are tender.
  • Step #5 Spice up to taste, then serve as soon as possible.
