Hungarian Short Ribs Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c water .
  • 2 medium onions, sliced .
  • 1 c water .
  • 2 tbsps cooking oil .
  • 1/4 c brown sugar .
  • 4 lbs short rib of beef .
  • 4 1/2 c medium noodles .
  • 1 tsp dry mustard .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce .
  • 1 (15 oz) tomato sauce .
  • 1/4 c vinegar

Directions
  • Step #1 I trim some of the fat from the short ribs.
  • Step #2 There is plenty marbled throughout to keep these moist.
  • Step #3 Brown ribs in a Dutch oven in hot oil.
  • Step #4 Remove ribs & sauté onions until softened but not brown.
  • Step #5 Return ribs to pot.
  • Step #6 Blend tomato sauce, vinegar, 1 c water, brown sugar, mustard, salt, & Worcestershire.
  • Step #7 Pour over ribs.
  • Step #8 Bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer, & cook 2 to 2 1/2 hrs or until meat is tender.
  • Step #9 Skim off fat.
  • Step #10 Stir in noodles & extra 1 c water.
  • Step #11 Cover up & cook, stirring every once in awhile, for 15 to 20 mins until noodles are tender.
