Chocolate Soup Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsps flour .
  • 5 c milk .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 1 loaf brioche bread, torn in pieces (or panettone, or hard butter cookies) .
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon .
  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate, sliced fine .
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions
  • Step #1 In a small bowl, stir 1/2 c milk & the flour until smooth.
  • Step #2 In a saucepan bring 4 1/2 c milk to a simmer over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #3 Place chocolate in a small bowl, & ladle 1 c of the simmering milk over the chocolate & whisk to dissolve it.
  • Step #4 Stir the dissolved chocolate into the simmering milk.
  • Step #5 Slowly add the flour mixture to milk in the saucepan, then stir in the sugar, & cinnamon, butter, & return to the simmer.
  • Step #6 Cook, stirring until thick & smooth - about 5 mins.
  • Step #7 Remove from heat, & let rest about a min.
  • Step #8 Ladle soup into warm bowls, panettone, & pass the brioche, or cookies for dunking into the soup.
