Pizza Margherita Recipe

Ingredients
  • pizza dough .
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, cut into thin strips .
  • 3 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1/2 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, drained & sliced thin .
  • 1/2 c coarse cornmeal .
  • 1 c neapolitan pizza sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
  • Step #2 Place pizza stone on bottom of oven.
  • Step #3 Stretch each ball of pizza dough between hands until it's approximately 12" across & 1/4" thick with a border that is a little thicker.
  • Step #4 Brush the dough sheets with oil.
  • Step #5 Put the rounds on a mealed peel or baking sheet.
  • Step #6 Spread app.
  • Step #7 1/4 c of the sauce on each round.
  • Step #8 Divide cheese between the 4 rounds & place it on the sauce.
  • Step #9 Repeat with the basil.
  • Step #10 Slide a round onto the preheated pizza stone.
  • Step #11 Bake for about 8 mins or until the cheese is melted.
  • Step #12 Slide peel or baking sheet under cooked pizza, remove this from oven & cool.
  • Step #13 Repeat with remaining dough rounds.
