Overnight Caramel French Toast #2 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 large eggs, beaten .
  • 2 tbsps corn syrup or maple syrup .
  • 2 tsps vanilla .
  • 1 1/2 tsps cinnamon, divided (or to taste) .
  • 1/4 c white sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c half-and-half cream or milk .
  • 1 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1/2 c butter (no substitutes) .
  • 12 slices bread (white or whole wheat)

Directions
  • Step #1 Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking pan & set aside.
  • Step #2 In a saucepan bring the brown sugar, butter & syrup to a boil; remove this from heat & pour this into the baking dish.
  • Step #3 Top with 6 slices of bread.
  • Step #4 Mix the white sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon (or to taste) then sprinkle it over the bread in the dish.
  • Step #5 Top with remaining slices of bread.
  • Step #6 In a bowl beat eggs, vanilla, half & half or milk (if using) & the remaining 1/2 tsp cinnamon; pour over the bread in the dish.
  • Step #7 Cover up & put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #8 When ready to bake, set oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #9 Bake uncovered for about 30-35 mins, or until golden.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top with confectioners sugar when serving if desired.
