Ginger-sesame Grilled Tofu Steaks Recipe

Ingredients
  • For ginger-sesame vinaigrette use 2/3 c .
  • 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce .
  • 2 tbsps minced peeled fresh ginger .
  • 1 lb water packed low-fat extra-firm tofu, drained & cut crosswise into 8 slices .
  • cooking spray .
  • 2 c hot cooked short-grain white rice .
  • 1 tbsp fine sliced fresh cilantro .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 1/2 c rice wine vinegar .
  • 1/4 c water .
  • 8 lime slices .
  • 1/4 c sliced green onions .
  • 1/4 c yellow miso (soybean paste) .
  • 4 tsps canola oil .
  • 2 tsps dark sesame oil .
  • 2 tbsps low sodium soy sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Place tofu slices on several layers of paper towels, cover with extra paper towels.
  • Step #2 Let stand 20 mins, press down every once in awhile.
  • Step #3 Combine ginger sesame viniagrette, cilantro, soy sauce in 13x9 baking dish.
  • Step #4 remove 1/4 c cilantro mixture; set aside.
  • Step #5 Add tofu to dish in single layer, turn to coat.
  • Step #6 Cover up & marinate in refrigerator 30 mins, turn every once in awhile.
  • Step #7 Prepare grill to medium-high heat.
  • Step #8 Add lime slices to marinade, turn to coat.
  • Step #9 Remove tofu & lime slices from marinade, reserve marinade.
  • Step #10 Place tofu & lime slices on grill rack coated with spray; grill 2 mins each side till browned, & well heated through, basting every once in awhile with reserved marinade.
  • Step #11 spoon 1/2 c rice on 4 plates.
  • Step #12 Top each serving with 2 tofu slices & 2 lime slices;drizzle each serving with 1 tbsp reserved cilantro mixture.
  • Step #13 For vinaigrette:.
  • Step #14 Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk till smooth.
  • Step #15 Stir in green onions & the remaining ingredients.
  • Step #16 Yields 1 1/3 c (serving size 1 tbsp).
