Chicken Crescent Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (4.5 oz) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 3 tbsps butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 celery rib, sliced
  • 3 c cubed cooked chicken
  • 1 (8 oz) package put in the fridged crescent rolls
  • 1/2 c sour cream
  • 1 (10.75 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 2 tbsps dried minced onion
  • 2/3 c shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 c sliced almonds
  • 1 (8 oz) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 2/3 c mayonnaise*

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large saucepan, saute celery in 1 tbsp butter until tender.
  • Step #2 Stir in the soup, onion, chicken, mayonnaise, sour cream, water chestnuts & mushrooms.
  • Step #3 Cook & stir over med-heat/flame just until mixture begins to boil.
  • Step #4 Transfer to an ungreased 13-in.
  • Step #5 x 9-in.
  • Step #6 x 2-in.
  • Step #7 baking dish.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with cheese.
  • Step #9 Unroll crescent roll dough into a rectangle; seal seams & perforations.
  • Step #10 Place over cheese.
  • Step #11 Melt the remaining butter; toss with nuts & sprinkle it over top.
  • Step #12 Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees F for 20-25 mins or until golden brown.
