Portugese Custard Tarts Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence .
  • 2 tbsps custard powder .
  • 1 orange, zest of .
  • icing sugar, to dust .
  • 400F ml cream .
  • 2 tbsps caster sugar .
  • 3 sheets frozen puff pastry

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 220 Degrees Celsius.
  • Step #2 Cut each sheet into 4 10cm circles, line 1/2 c muffin pan with dough.
  • Step #3 Refrigerate.
  • Step #4 Stir custard powder, sugar & 1/2 c cream until smooth.
  • Step #5 Stir in zest & essence.
  • Step #6 Bring remaining cream to boil in saucepan.
  • Step #7 Stir quickly into custard mixture.
  • Step #8 Stir over low heat/flame 2 mins until thickened.
  • Step #9 Cool 5 mins & pour this into prepared cases.
  • Step #10 Bake in middle oven 15 mins.
  • Step #11 Dust with icing sugar to serve.
