Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c melted butter or margarine .
  • Crust .
  • 1/2 c brown sugar .
  • 2 c apples, sliced & peeled .
  • 2 c flour .
  • Custard .
  • 1/2 c rolled oats (quick or regular) .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 5 dashes bitters .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 3 tbsps cornstarch .
  • 1 c water

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine crust mixture.
  • Step #2 Reserve 1 c & press the rest in a pie tin.
  • Step #3 Put apples in crust.
  • Step #4 In a small pan mix water, salt, sugar, & cornstarch.
  • Step #5 Cook while stirring until mixture gets thick.
  • Step #6 Remove from heat & stir in the vanilla & bitters.
  • Step #7 Pour hot custard over apples.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top reserved c of crumbs over pie.
  • Step #9 Bake at 350°F for 50 to 60 mins until crust is crunchy.
