50's Primetime Cafe Roast Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c olive oil .
  • 1 1/2 c dry red wine .
  • 6 c beef bouillon .
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced .
  • 1 onion, sliced .
  • 5 lbs top round roast or boneless bottom round roast .
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced .
  • 2 carrots, peeled & sliced .
  • salt & pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step #2 Heat the oil In a large-ish pan over medium-high heat.
  • Step #3 Brown the meat on all sides & remove the meat to a roasting pan.
  • Step #4 Pour the wine around the meat.
  • Step #5 Sauté the cut vegetables until golden brown & add to the roasting pan.
  • Step #6 Pour the beef bouillon into the pan.
  • Step #7 Pour liquid over the roast & cover.
  • Step #8 Bake for 30 to 45 mins per lb.
  • Step #9 Remove from oven & let rest for 15 mins.
