Orange Chiffon Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 egg yolks .
  • 1/2 c vegetable oil .
  • 1 grated orange, rind of .
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar .
  • 1 3/4 c flour .
  • 1/4 c orange juice .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 3 tsps baking powder .
  • 6 egg whites .
  • 1 1/2 c sugar .
  • 1/2 c cold water

Directions
  • Step #1 Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & orange rind together.
  • Step #2 Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients, & then add in this order: vegetable oil, egg yolks, orange juice & water.
  • Step #3 Beat til smooth.
  • Step #4 Add cream of tartar to egg whites & beat in a separate bown until stiff peaks are formed.
  • Step #5 Gradually pour batter over beaten egg whites, carefully folding until just mixed.
  • Step #6 DO NOT STIR.
  • Step #7 Pour batter into ungreased 10" tube pan.
  • Step #8 Bake 325F 55 mins.
  • Step #9 Increase heat to 350F & bake 10 mins longer.
  • Step #10 Invert pan, & allow this to cool.
  • Step #11 Remove & frost if desired.
