Make-two Macaroni And Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 tsps chicken flavor instant bouillon .
  • 1 lb cheddar cheese, shredded, divided (about 4 c) .
  • 2 tsps mustard powder .
  • 1/3 c all-purpose flour .
  • 5 1/4 c milk .
  • 1 (16 oz) package elbow macaroni .
  • 1/3 c butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Step #2 Cook macaroni according to package directions.
  • Step #3 Meanwhile, melt butter in large saucepan or Dutch oven.
  • Step #4 Whisk in flour, bouillon & dry mustard.
  • Step #5 Gradually add milk.
  • Step #6 Cook & stir until bouillon dissolves & mixture thickens slightly.
  • Step #7 Remove from heat.
  • Step #8 Add 2 c cheese; stir until melted.
  • Step #9 Stir in macaroni.
  • Step #10 Turn into two lightly greased 1 1/2 quart baking dishes.
  • Step #11 Top each with one c shredded cheese.
  • Step #12 Bake one dish 20 to 25 mins or until hot & bubbly.
  • Step #13 Cover up second dish tightly with aluminum foil wrap; freeze.
  • Step #14 To bake frozen macaroni & cheese: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Step #15 Bake frozen casserole uncovered one hr or until bubbly & hot in center.
  • Step #16 (These are the directions in the original recipe; however, I usually bake covered so it won't dry out, then uncover at end to crisp up the top.
