Yakitori Domburi Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 1 garlic clove, minced .
  • 1 tsp gingerroot, minced .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 2 scallions .
  • 1/2 c soy sauce .
  • 3 c hot cooked rice .
  • 6 boneless skinless chicken breast halves .
  • 1/2 c mirin or sake .
  • 2 c water

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix soy sauce, mirin, gingerroot & garlic in medium glass or plastic bowl.
  • Step #2 Place chicken in soy mixture, marinate for 15 mins.
  • Step #3 Drain chicken, reserving soy mixture.
  • Step #4 Heat oil in 12-inch skillet until hot.
  • Step #5 Cook chicken over med-heat/flame until brown on both sides & done, about 15 mins.
  • Step #6 Heat water, sugar & reserved soy mixture to boiling in 3-quart saucepan; boil & stir 2 mins.
  • Step #7 Stir in scallions (cut into 1/4 inch pieces green & white parts).
  • Step #8 Cut each chicken breast half into 6 diagonal slices by holding the knife or cleaver at a 45-degree angle to the cutting surface.
  • Step #9 Place 6 slices on rice in soup bowl.
  • Step #10 Spoon hot liquid over chicken.
