Cherry Pecan Torte Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 egg whites
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 2 c heavy whipping cream, whipped
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 3/4 c sliced pecans
  • 2 c saltine crumbs

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  • Step #2 Beat in cream of tartar.
  • Step #3 Gradually add sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, beating on high until stiff peaks form.
  • Step #4 Fold in crumbs, pecans & vanilla.
  • Step #5 Spread into a greased 13-in.
  • Step #6 x 9-in.
  • Step #7 x 2-in.
  • Step #8 baking pan.
  • Step #9 Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 mins.
  • Step #10 Cool completely.
  • Step #11 Spread whipped cream over top.
  • Step #12 Spoon pie filling over cream.
  • Step #13 Chill for at least 1 hr.
