Step #1 Combine sugar, flour & salt in saucepan; Stir in milk & cook over med-heat/flame until thick.
Step #2 (Be careful not to scortch pan).
Step #3 Beat egg yolks, temper egg yolks by adding two tbsp of hot mixture to yolks then yolks to hot mixture.
Step #4 Cook for 5 mins; remove this from heat, stir in the vanilla.
Step #5 In a 9x13 pan place a single layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom of the dish & up the sides.
Step #6 Place banana slices over cookies, top this with pudding & chill in refrigerator.
Step #7 Before serving top this with real whip cream.
Step #8 (Some people prefer meringue or cool whip which is fine but I think a 1/2 pt of heavy whip cream beat with 2 tbsp of sugar is the icing on the pudding).
