Ingredients
1/2 tsp five-spice powder (available at Chinese grocers or Asian supermarkets, also known as five aroma powder ( ground brown p) .
2 tbsps oil .
3 tbsps soy sauce .
1 tbsp sugar .
2 tsps sake .
1 long chinese onion or leek, slivered .
4 boned chicken legs (drumstick & second joint) .
1 garlic clove, crushed .
4 tbsps stock or water .
1 tbsp soy sauce
Directions
Step #1 Make slits in chicken skin & meat & marinate for 10 min in sauce by mixing the next six ingredients.
Step #2 Heat wok or pan, add oil & saute chicken in oil, skin-side down over low heat/flame until browned.
Step #3 Add sauce made from remaining 4 ingredients, raise heat & cook this until done, cover pot, about 20 mins.
