Moroccan Tuna Steaks Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 tbsps ground fresh coriander .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin .
  • 2 tbsps butter, melted .
  • 1 tsp turmeric .
  • 1 tsp paprika .
  • 2 tbsps extra-virgin olive oil, divided .
  • 4 (6 oz) tuna steaks .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes .
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp ground aniseed .
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger

Directions
  • Step #1 Rinse the tuna steaks & pat dry with paper towels.
  • Step #2 In a small bowl, paprika, anise, mix cumin, ginger, salt, pepper flakes, tumeric, pepper, cinnamon, & lemon juice.
  • Step #3 Lightly rub both sides of the tuna steaks with 1 tbsp olive oil.
  • Step #4 Rub the seasoning mix on both sides of tuna steaks; coating them well.
  • Step #5 Using a heavy bottomed saute pan or a cast-iron pan, warm the remaining olive oil.
  • Step #6 Increase the heat to high & place the tuna in the pan.
  • Step #7 Sear for 1 min, then turn over carefully, reducing the heat to medium.
  • Step #8 Sear the other side for 1 more min until medium rare.
  • Step #9 DO NOT OVERCOOK! Pour the melted butter over the tuna steaks & sprinkle with the coriander.
  • Step #10 (Also can do cook these on the grill -- just cook a few mins on each side.
  • Step #11 ).
  • Step #12 Serve as soon as possible.
