Ingredients
  • 3 large eggs .
  • 175 g softened butter .
  • 175 g caster sugar .
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence .
  • good quality dark chocolate, to dip ends in to decorate .
  • 1 tbsp cold milk .
  • 4 tbsps sugar .
  • Creme .
  • 1 (454 g) package marzipan .
  • Sponge .
  • 2 tsps baking powder .
  • 225 g flour .
  • 2 oz margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 1.
  • Step #2 Grease lined tin with butter.
  • Step #3 2.
  • Step #4 Sift flour & baking powder into processor & add all other ingredients.
  • Step #5 3.
  • Step #6 Mix thoroughly & stop to scrape down the sides.
  • Step #7 4.
  • Step #8 Mix again until smooth, then pour this into the prepared tin & sperad evenly with a knife.

  • Step #10 Bake at 160 C for around 1hr.

  • Step #12 Remove cake from the tin & set aside to cool on a wire grid.

  • Step #14 When the cake is completely cooled, cut into lengths & set aside.

  • Step #16 Mix sugar & butter for creme, together in a bowl & set aside.
  • Step #17 9.
  • Step #18 Roll out Marzipan to about 1-2 mm thick & lay 1 strip of sponge on top.
  • Step #19 10.
  • Step #20 Spread a little creme mix on top of sponge & roll onto the marzipan to completely cover sponge (ensure that the edge of marzipan is on the bottom, to avoid seam-lines!).
  • Step #21 11.
  • Step #22 when covered all strips of sponge in the same way, vut into individual cakes of about 1-2inches long.
  • Step #23 12.
  • Step #24 Set aside & melt the dark chocolate in the microwave.
  • Step #25 13.
  • Step #26 Dip ends of cakes in dark chocolate & drizzle on centre if desired.
