Ingredients
3 c flour .
1/2 lb butter (2 sticks) .
1/2 tsp almond extract .
3 eggs .
light cream .
1 c sifted powdered sugar .
1 tbsp butter, softened .
3 tbsps cold water .
1/2 tsp almond extract .
1 c water
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 375.
Step #2 In medium bowl cut 1 stick (1/2 c) butter into 2 c of flour until the pieces are the size of small peas.
Step #3 Sprinkle top 1 tbs cold water over 1/3 of this mixture & carefully toss with a fork.
Step #4 Push this third to the side of the bowl & repeat with the other 2 thirds.
Step #5 When all the dough is moistened, shape it into a ball & divide the ball in half.
Step #6 On a baking sheet pat or roll each piece into a 12 by 4 inch strip.
Step #7 In a medium sauce pan bring to a boil 1 c water & remaining stick of butter.
Step #8 Remove pan from heat & add the remaining c of flour all at once.
Step #9 Whisk vigorously until smooth.
Step #10 Let mixture rest & cool for 5 mins.
Step #11 Add eggs one at a time beating well with a wooden spoon after each.
Step #12 Stir in ½ tsp extract.
Step #13 Spread half of this mixture over each pastry strip evenly.
Step #14 Bake for 40 mins until golden & puffy.
Step #15 Transfer to wire rack & cool slightly.
Step #16 While it cools make glaze by combining powdered sugar, 1 tbs butter & ½ tsp extract.
Step #17 Add enough cream to make a drizzling consistency.
Step #18 Drizzle over the kringlor.
Step #19 Cut the pastry into 1 inch diagonal slices & serve.
