Wendy's Spicy Chicken Fillet Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2/3 c water .
  • 4 lettuce leaves .
  • 1 c all-purpose flour .
  • 6-8 c vegetable oil .
  • 1/2 tsp paprika .
  • 4 chicken breast fillets .
  • 1/3 c frank's original red hot pepper sauce .
  • 1 tsp fresh coarse ground black pepper .
  • 8 tsps mayonnaise .
  • 4 plain hamburger buns .
  • 4 tsps cayenne pepper .
  • 4 slices tomatoes .
  • 1 tsp onion powder .
  • 2 1/2 tsps salt .
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat 6 to 8 c of oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Combine the pepper sauce & water in a small bowl.
  • Step #3 Combine the flour, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, paprika & garlic powder in another shallow bowl.
  • Step #4 Pound each of the chicken pieces with a mallet until about.
  • Step #5 3/8-inch thick.
  • Step #6 Trim each breast fillet if necessary to help it.
  • Step #7 fit on the bun.
  • Step #8 Working with one fillet at a time, coat each piece with the flour, then dredge it in the diluted pepper sauce.
  • Step #9 Coat the chicken once.
  • Step #10 again in the flour mixture & set it aside until the rest of the chicken is coated.
  • Step #11 Fry the chicken fillets for 8 to 12 mins or until they are light brown & crispy.
  • Step #12 Remove the chicken to a rack or to paper towels to drain.
  • Step #13 As chicken is frying, prepare each sandwich by grilling the face of the hamburger buns on a hot skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #14 Spread about 2 tsps of mayonnaise on the face of each of the inverted top buns.
  • Step #15 Place a tomato slice onto the mayonnaise, then stack a leaf of lettuce on top of the tomato.
  • Step #16 On each of the bottom buns, stack one piece of chicken.
  • Step #17 Flip the top half of each sandwich onto the bottom half & serve hot.
