Golden Wheat And Cheddar Loaves Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil .
  • 1 1/4 tsps salt .
  • 2 c whole wheat flour .
  • 1 3/4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 3/4 c very warm water (120*F. to 130*F.) .
  • 1 1/2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided (abut 6 oz.) .
  • 1 1/4 oz fast rising yeast

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat your oven to 350*F.
  • Step #2 Spray 2(7x4x2 inch) pans with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Step #3 You may use loaf pans but the loaves will not rise as high).
  • Step #4 In a large bowl, all purpose flour, yeast, stir this together whole wheat flour, salt & 1 c of the cheese.
  • Step #5 Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
  • Step #6 Add water & oil.
  • Step #7 Gradually stir dry ingredients into water mixture until soft dough forms.
  • Step #8 If dough is too sticky, add extra flour 1 tbls.
  • Step #9 at a time.
  • Step #10 Turn out the dough onto lightly floured surface; divide in half.
  • Step #11 Shape into loaves; place this in pans.
  • Step #12 Cover up with a towel; let this stand 30 mins or until slightly risen.
  • Step #13 Sprinkle top the top of each loaf with 1/4 c of remaining cheese.
  • Step #14 Bake 30 to 35 mins or until browned & loaves sound hollow when tapped or inside temperature reaches 190*F.
  • Step #15 Cool on a wire rack.
