Blackberry Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 3 tbsps sugar .
  • 3 tbsps all-purpose flour .
  • 3-4 c blackberries .
  • 1 c water .
  • 1/2 c milk .
  • 3 tbsps shortening .
  • 1 c self-rising flour .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring the water to a boil over high heat in a medium saucepan.
  • Step #2 Combine 1 c sugar & all purpose flour in a small bowl.
  • Step #3 Add to the boiling water.
  • Step #4 Boil for one min, stirring constantly.
  • Step #5 Add blackberries; stir until evenly coated.
  • Step #6 Pour into a 2 quart baking dish.
  • Step #7 Dot with 2 tbsps butter.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with the cinnamon.
  • Step #9 Combine the self-rising flour & the 3 table spoons sugar in a medium bowl.
  • Step #10 Cut in the shortening with a pastry mixer or 2 forks until the mixture resembles course crumbs.
  • Step #11 Add the milk; stir until the mixture forms soft dough.
  • Step #12 **DO NOT OVER STIR**.
  • Step #13 Drop tbspfuls of dough over the blackberries.
  • Step #14 Bake at 400F degrees for 30 mins or until the top is golden brown.
  • Step #15 **NOTE: when using very sweet berries, you may decrease the 1 c sugar to 2/3 c.
