Hearty Lentil Chili Recipe

Step #1 In a 6-qt Dutch oven, cook sausage until cooked through.
Step #2 Remove sausage, drain fat.
Step #3 Add beef, onion & green pepper to Dutch oven; cook this until onion is tender.
Step #4 Stir in sausage, bouillon granules, chili powder, cumin & oregano.
Step #5 Cook & stir for 1 min.
Step #6 Stir in undrained tomatoes & water.
Step #7 Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover & let simmer for 1 hr.
Step #8 Rinse lentils.
Step #9 Stir lentils into meat mixture.
Step #10 Bring to boiling; reduce heat.
Step #11 Cover up & let simmer about 30 mins more or until lentils are tender.
Step #12 Garnish with cheddar cheese if desired.
