Ingredients
2 tbsps yeast .
2 c warm water .
1/4 c sugar .
5-5 1/2 c flour .
1/3 c butter or margarine, melted .
2 tsps salt .
2/3 c nonfat dry milk powder (instant or non instant) .
1 egg
Directions
Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, mix together warm water & dry milk until dissolved.
Step #2 Stir in the yeast, followed by the sugar, butter, salt, & egg.
Step #3 (In the order specified).
Step #4 Add 2 c of the flour, mixing on low until moistened.
Step #5 Increase mixing speed to medium & beat for 2 mins until smooth.
Step #6 Add 2 more c of flour, mixing on low until moistened & then on medium for 2 mins.
Step #7 Gradually add in the remaining flour 1/2 c at a time until a soft, but manageable dough forms.
Step #8 You may not need to add the full amount.
Step #9 A softer dough produces a lighter roll.
Step #10 Cover up dough & let rise until doubled, about 1 hr.
Step #11 Punch dough down & roll this into a 8x18 inch rectangle & 1/4 inch thick.
Step #12 Brush melted butter over dough.
Step #13 With pizza cutter, cut dough in half lengthwise to make two strips, about 4 inches wide.
Step #14 Cut horizontally to make about 16 pieces of dough.
Step #15 Starting with short end, roll up one piece of dough jelly roll style with butter on the outside.
Step #16 Place in a greased glass pan with sides.
Step #17 Repeat with remaining pieces of dough, making sure that all rolls face the same direction.
Step #18 Cover up & let rise until double.
Step #19 Bake at 375 for 12-15 mins or until golden brown.
Step #20 Don't overbake! Brush with extra butter if desired.
Step #21 Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 mins.
Step #22 Remove from pan before they get soggy.
