Norsk Nøttebrød (norwegian Walnut Bread) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps salad oil .
  • 1 c unsifted whole wheat flour .
  • 3/4 c sliced pitted dates .
  • 1 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 c sliced walnuts .
  • 1 c buttermilk .
  • 1 beaten egg .
  • 1 c sifted all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 In medium bowl, sift flour with soda & salt, then add walnuts, whole wheat flour & dates.
  • Step #2 Combine egg, buttermilk & salad oil; stir in theto flour mixture until well mixed.
  • Step #3 Spoon into 3 greased empty 16 oz cans.
  • Step #4 Bak 50 mins at 375 degrees or until golden & done.
  • Step #5 With small spatula, loosen around edges, then turn out on rack to cool.
